Our DC Apartment

We've been residents of our DC apartment for three weeks today and I feel like we're really settled in. We dubbed our abode the Potomac Penthouse, since we're on Potomac Ave and our apartment is on the top floor.

We both were working this week, getting into our metro commutes and even had our first after-work DC Happy Hour. We've taken several evening walks to the Capitol building and down the Mall. We have our favorite grocery stores, though we need to find a good spot to buy produce.

We finally got most of our decor up this week, and are taking advantage of the Labor Day sales to buy a bed! (Thanks Laura, for letting us hog your air mattress for awhile.) The bedroom isn't entirely put together yet, but our living spaces feel complete, and I thought I'd finally share.

Our living room, with the new TV (Aaron's post-bar gift to himself.)

Another angle on the living room - the couch is a sofa bed (great for visitors!) but the white cover was pretty dingy. We've got a sheet over it until the right slipcover presents itself.

The dining room table was purchased from the last tenants, and the maps of the Pacific Northwest and the San Francisco Bay Area will remind us of the other great places we've lived. Our collection of board games is supposed to advertise how fun we are. The empty champagne bottle on the shelf is a momento from our first day in DC, when Kendra and Laura were waiting on our doorstop ready for a toast.

The kitchen - small and now much cleaner than when we got here.

Hopefully the bedroom will become photo-worthy soon. The bed will help!
